EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION FOR COUNSELLING
The EAC Aims to:
   Assist the further development of counselling as a profession in Europe;
   Ensure official recognition of the profession;
   Form partnerships in policy development on counselling at the National and European Union Levels.
The EAC has set itself the task of:
   Securing recognition for the counselling profession by the European Commission and Parliament    and by the governments of the European Countries;
   Establish a European Accreditation standard for individuals and training courses;
   Encouraging countries which do not, as yet, have national counselling associations (including    countries in Easter Europe) to form them;
   Creating a European Counselling Journal;
   Producing a European Membership Directory of Counselling;
   Encouraging a professional exchange and development of regular conferences and other events.
Why join EAC?
The counselling profession in Europe is now at a crucial stage. There is a growing need and demand for counselling services among the people in Europe. This need can only be fulfill by self-confident, highly trained professionals, with coherent and widely recognised professional structures.

By joining EAC you will be assisting in the creation of agreed professional structures for accreditation, high standards in training, professional support, exchange and eventual safeguarding of professional mobility throughout Europe. You will, also, be assisting in the task of creating national counselling associations in several European countries where they do not currently exist.
Who can join EAC?
EAC Membership encompasses practitioners, trainers, academics and others active in counselling service agencies, training institutes, universities and other professional associations.
Benefits of Membership through National Associations
As a Member of the European Association for Counselling (EAC) who has just joined through your National Association you will:

   Be entitled to one vote on selecting the officers of the Association's Executive and its Country    Representatives;
   Have the opportunity to participate in any of the EAC's task specific groups and projects;
   Have the opportunity to be included within the "Euro Networking Directory";
   Be consulted on issues such as European training and professional standards for counselling;
   Be able to contribute to the development of counselling in Europe;
   Be entitled to attend EAC Conferences and Events.

Your National Association will:

   Provide you with one copy of the "Euro Networking Directory";
   Provide you with one copy of all Association Newsletters;
   Circulate to you information about EAC and linked Associations;
   Circulate to you information about conferences and events;
   Collect your EAC Membership subscription and forward in to EAC at the appropriate time.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Membership of EAC MUST NOT be used as a qualification, or represented as accreditation by EAC.
